Every day you’re on my mind
Your absence, a reason I long to find
Five years ago you went away
A cure we found was just a cliché
The world has stolen the Brian rhyme
The hustle and bustle, loss of time the crime
Thoughts all jumbled no coherency
Depth of understanding lacking apparency
Justice dispensed by the man in robes
Truth revealed no more hidden codes
Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord
My soul in pain, not yet restored
Where can I find the needed fight
Intensity diminished, a small respite
Those near and dear offer remedies
As I get lost in pleasant memories
Memories throughout the many years
Memories of joy bring sweet tears
Memories of smiles laughter and fun
Memories of wife, daughters and sons
For any meal he had but one wish
To partake in his most favorite dish
Round with eight slices pleasing to the eye
Covered with cheese a large pizza pie
On a busy sidewalk in New York City
Or any alley in Rome, feeling giddy
A stone oven, expectations exceed
A slice of pizza is all Brian needs
Across the country, in a small car
To visit with loved ones who lived so far
A Birthday present Brian did get
“Fifty bucks for pizza” a big smile you bet
The King of Pizza that’s him for sure
The aroma wafting an allure
A big bite, a joyful moan
Happiest he was when not eating alone
A memory of the son now gone
Not forgetting the ones to hold on
Reminds me of the love so near
My wife, my girls, family so dear
Lord one gift is my request
With wondrous memories I’m forever blessed
Memories vivid, warm and bright
Of loved ones dancing in the sunlight
On any day a memory bring
And if not of the Pizza King
A memory so clear of days gone by
Mountains in spring, my family, a blue sky
